Sally Watson was one of my favorite writers as a teenager, and I have read and reread her books since then. She writes marvelous stories of girls who had adventures with pirates (Jade) to Shakespeare (Mistress Malapert) to a kibbutz (The Mukhtar's Children and other books) to early Seattle (Poor Felicity).
New: Mistress Malapert's grandaughter, Oriel, has her own book, now available online from Amazon, Barnes and Noble, etc. Outrageous Oriel is the title. Oriel's story.
A list of Sally's books and where they can be bought.
Her fans have a chat group on Yahoo at groups.yahoo.com/group/sallywatson.
Her biography is online both here and at ImageCascade (which is offering reprints of seven of her earlier books).
Sally Watson is currently living in Northern California with assorted cats. Her books are currently available through Amazon et al, and Image Cascade (see in print) and through libraries and used book dealers. She is still at work and has three new novels in process, one about ancient Egypt, and another two (evolving into three) about Cecily and Peregrine, continuing their stories.
Back in the Reagan years, Sally wrote a satire using the tune to Gilbert and Sullivan's "Modern Major General" called, "A Consequential President." She sent it to me to add here. Here, too, is her "Powers of the White House" set to the tune of Noel Coward's "Stately Homes of England".
